How we developed the packagesPlanners have considered a multitude of possible ways to provide safer biking routes and connections through these neighbourhoods. From all the initial information, a check-list of criteria was used to develop a long-list of possible routes.
Parking impacts package AAs part of the planning and assessment of possible packages, we looked at current parking on all streets that were considered as part of potential routes. We have developed three maps showing the impact of the packages on parking.
Complete: two-way bike path and separate footpathThe bike path on the St Patrick's College side of the road connects with the new paths on Rongotai Road, and in time, will connect with the new paths now being built around Evans Bay and on Cobham Drive.
What's changing and what we're buildingThe area along the seaward side of Cobham Drive, between Evans Bay Marina and Calabar Road, will be landscaped and replanted. Plants have been selected to survive the harsh coastal environment of strong winds and salt spray, and be suitable for wildlife habitat.

As part of the planning and assessment of possible packages, we looked at current parking on all streets that were considered as part of potential routes. We have developed three maps showing the impact of the packages on parking.
Package CPackage C provides the most connected network of routes for all three suburbs (Berhampore, Newtown and Mt Cook). As well as direct connections to Kilbirnie and the central city, it connects more neighbourhoods and provides more alternative routes for people on bikes.
