Why this solution?

We made this street a safer part of the network by moving the existing painted bike lanes out a bit to provide a buffer space between people on bikes and parked cars. This quiet route provides a good connection between Rongotai Road and Coutts Street. The design is appropriate for this quiet street with less traffic and low vehicle speeds.

Councillors approved plans for safer bike lanes in March 2018.
